Hello Everyone!
My name is Roxy Van Gundy! I have been a dispatcher since 2005, starting with the Emporia Police Department in Emporia KS. During my tenure I was the community outreach officer and training officer.
In 2010, I transitioned my career to Fairbanks Alaska and began working with the Alaska State Troopers, D Detachment Post. Alaska was the most fun, rewarding, deeply complex dispatching I've ever done. I started as a training officer and moved to supervisor in 2012. I can't wait to go back soon!
I came back to Kansas in 2014, and back to my home center at the Emporia Police Department, which consolidated in the Lyon County Emergency Communications center in 2015. We serve all residents in Lyon County, Kansas.
I took over as director in August of 2018, and I am learning everyday. I want to be an champion for my employees and to advocate for their needs. Dispatchers are an amazing group of folks, and I'm extremely lucky to work with some of the best.
I recently became an ENP, which is pretty great - it's a really tough test! :)
